    The Hayward Field Stadium was the venue for the 18th World Athletics Championships in July 2022. Various sporting records were broken at this event.

    The athletics stadium Hayward Field is located on the campus of the University of Oregonan (USA) and hosted the 18th World Athletics Championships in July, 2022. It was extensively rebuilt and renovated during the last years. The result is a first-class track and field facility with a nine-lane running track, great acoustics and unobstructed sightlines throughout. GEZOFLEX granules were used for the installation of the nine-lane running track as well as for the surfacing system of the other competition areas.     With 3 world records, 5 championship records, 4 national records and a world leading performance, a cluster of records were broken at the World Athletics Championships. Two of the three world records were set on the new nine-lane track in the running competitions. Sydney McLaughlin ushered in a new era on July 22, 2022. The US American flew to a sensational new world record in the 400m hurdles in 50.68 seconds. The Nigerian Tobi Amusan provided the second world record. In the semifinals of the 100 m hurdles, her time of 12.12 seconds was eight hundredths faster than the previous record.
