The first open-air “public living room” in Switzerland

The city lounge invites you to relax and wonder

The floor, sofas, chairs, tables, loungers and a Porsche are covered with red EPDM granules

The “city lounge” by the artist Pipilotti Rist and the architect Carlos Martinez has been inviting people to relax and be amazed since 2005. It is the first “public living room” in Switzerland and covers an area of around 4,600 m² right in the heart of St. Gallen. The floor areas, sofas, chairs, tables, loungers, a fountain and even a Porsche are designed with GEZOFLEX EPDM granules in bright red and make the area a unique highlight in urban design and development. In popular parlance, the area is – not particularly surprising – simply called “Red Square”.
